Nutrition

So much of development is tied to proper nutrition.

Our son has food allergies and oral-motor difficulties with solid foods, which makes it difficult to ensure that he's getting all the nutrition he needs. So, we've consulted with a chiropractor nutritionist who suggested a nutrition test called a Pediatric ION (Individual Optimal Nutrition) profile. The test measures essential minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, and amino acids, among other things and recommends supplements based on these test results.

We recently received the test results and will be adjusting his supplements based on his individual needs. I like this because it tells us exactly what his body needs, so we're not supplementing unnecessary items.

  2. Hi Andy,
I am looking on the website for the testing, and I see lots of conditions to know which tests to get, but none that match up with my son's. Do you know which conditions you went with?
    Thank you!!

  3. We were testing for general nutrition absorption to ensure he was getting everything he needs. We found he was deficient in copper, and boosted foods with copper - retested in a few months and his copper levels were back to normal. About a year ago we actually did nutrition testing for food sensitivities and found he was sensitive to a bunch of foods in addition to his food allergies to dairy, eggs, garlic, and all nuts. After removing the foods from his diet he was reacting to, he began gaining weight and absorbing nutrients.
