Advanced BioMechanical Rehabilitation (ABR)

ABR is a unique biomechanically based hands-on rehabilitation approach created by Leonid Blyum for children and young adults with brain injury. The therapy claims to bring about predictable recovery of musculoskeletal structure and motor functions.

ABR focuses on strengthening smooth muscles to restore the mechanical structure of the musculoskeletal system. Strengthening of the smooth muscles is suppose to induce gradual growth of internal pneumatic capacity, which in a cascade effect helps to re-establish - unit-by-unit - proper skeletal and muscular structure.

We have not done this therapy for our son because we don't feel it's necessary at this time. It's something we may consider in the future.

  1. Hi there. I know its an old post, but I was wondering if you started ABR. We've been doing it for almost 2 years now and we are so, so, so happy about it. The best choice ever.

  2. We have not. Our son does look down a lot and slouches. He also has GERD, so we might look into ABR at some point.

If you don't mind me asking, what benefits has your child experienced with ABR?

  3. Hi, i recognise that the comment posted is from last year. Is there updates about the comment?

I have been doing ABR for my son who is severe spastic quadriplegic. He has great progress and is so different now. One of the big achievement is the elimination of his hip subluxation. He was 50% hip subluxed when he was 2 1/2 but is now completely normal in X ray
